In our initial release of Razzi for iOS we added basic Facebook integration. Here’s how it looked:

These type of stories performed horribly. For example, one week there was 355 stories posted with over 28,000 news feed impressions and they received 324 clicks — total.
Why do these perform so poorly?
- They feel like spam. We’ve all seen entirely too many applications that have grabbed your authorization and post stories of this exact same look. Our eyes skim right past them.
- The subject is foreign. While the story is posted on Facebook, the main subject (the photo) requires you to leave Facebook.
- Poor interaction. Because the subject is foreign, stories like this rarely see comments and likes.
- Small thumbnail. With a small thumbnail it’s tough to see detail and blends in with all of the other links that have been posted for the day. Nobody is enticed to click on these.
Lesson Learned: If you’re going to share a photo on Facebook, share the photo itself…not a link to it.
So as of last night, we completed an all new Facebook integration for our mobile app. Now when you choose to turn on Facebook share when uploading, here’s what will happen.
First off, we’re going to create an album for you called “Razzi Photos” where everything will be stored. The album description provides a link back to your Razzi account.

Photos uploaded are full high resolution while providing the photo’s title and short URL back to the photo on Razzi. They’ll also look great on your new Timeline too! Here’s an example:

Much, much better! I’ll be the first to tell you, even I did not use the prior Facebook share and would often double-upload to Razzi and then Facebook for my more personal photos. Now we’re all able to kill two birds with one stone! Receiving interactions from family and friends on Facebook, while promoting our Razzi accounts at the same time.
All of this is available to you right now. No app update is required. Try it out today!
